Tucked back on the river in Wilbur-By-The-Sea the Boondocks Restaurant isn’t as far away as it might sound. Often know as the locals best kept secret the Boondocks Restaurant is a truly authentic “Old Florida” restaurant and bar.
Located inside an old marina it makes a great place to pull up your boat, hop out and have a good time for a while. I often use this as a cool place to take out-of-towners that want a taste of authentic Florida but you better warn them, it doesn’t look like much at first sight. It does have great homestyle seafood, ice cold drinks and it’s just kind of a fun place!
The decor is pure Tiki Trashy with signs that exclaim unattended children will be sold for bait, giant clam shells, recovered fishing buoys and carved mermaids.
There are walls but when the weather is nice they are always rolled up and its rare location on a narrow stretch of land where the river and the ocean are just a few blocks apart means that there is always a sea breeze to cool things off.
The food rocks but I really like to drop in around sunset and grab a beer while the sun goes down over the river and I know that a lot of locals agree with me.
